The search is slow or fails

The first search of a city fetches map data once and can take up to 20 seconds. After that the city is fast for everyone. If a search fails, wait a minute and try again; the public map servers are shared.

No ratings or prices on some hotels

Ratings come from Foursquare and prices from our hotel partner. A hotel that they do not list shows the score without them.

How the score works

For the categories you picked, the app counts how many places are within your walk budget, how close they are, and how well they are rated, a third each. Places under your rating bar do not count. The hotel's own guest rating then adjusts the result by up to 20 percent. Walk times follow real streets on the hotel page.

Sign in, sync, and deleting your account

Sign in with Apple or an emailed code. Delete your account any time in Settings; it removes everything immediately.

Location and calendar

Both are optional and only used while the app is open. Change them in iOS Settings under Stepstay.
